How to Show Related Products on a Product Page? (Based on Categories & Tags)

Do you want a You May Also Like row under every product, in your own design rather than WooCommerce’s default?

The Woo Product Listing widget in The Plus Addons for Elementor finds related products from the category and tags of the product being viewed.

Requirement – This widget is a part of The Plus Addons for Elementor, make sure it’s installed & activated to enjoy all its powers.

Before You Start

  • Edition: Pro — the Woo Product Listing widget is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. It does not appear in the widget panel of the free plugin.
  • WooCommerce installed and active, with some published products.
  • A single product template from Nexter Builder or Elementor Pro’s Theme Builder.
  • Widget to enable: Woo Product Listing, switched on under ThePlus Settings > Widgets.

Step 1: Add the listing to the product template

Edit the single product template and drag in the Woo Product Listing widget. Set Product Listing Types to Single Page Related Products.

Step 2: Choose how products are matched

Related Post TypeA product counts as related when it shares
Based on Categorya category
Based on Tagsa tag
Both (default)a category or a tag — the widest choice
The related post type dropdown

Only a product’s most specific categories count. If a product is in Clothing > Hoodies, related products come from Hoodies, not all of Clothing.

Limitations

  • Single product pages only.
  • No loading options or filter on this listing type.
  • The product itself is never listed.
  • Pro only. The Woo Product Listing widget is not in the free plugin.

Troubleshooting

Too many loosely related products

Both matches on category or tag. Switch to Based on Category for a tighter set.

Nothing appears

The product has no category or tag shared with another product.
