Make sure you’ve created at least one custom taxonomy and added some items to it.

You can use any CPT plugins such as [Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)](https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/), [Custom Post Type UI](https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-ui/), [Pods](https://wordpress.org/plugins/pods/), [Custom post types](https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-types/), etc., to [create a custom taxonomy](https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/registering-a-custom-taxonomy/).

For instance, we’ve created a custom taxonomy called Book Authors.

1. Add the Dynamic Categories widget on a page and select an appropriate style from the **Style** section from the **Content Layout** tab.

2. Then select an appropriate layout from the **Layout** section.

3. After that, select your custom taxonomy from the **Taxonomies** dropdown. In our case, it is *book-author*.

Now you’ll see your custom taxonomy listing.
