# How to Connect Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to an Elementor Form?

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — The ConvertKit action needs The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. The free plugin does not list it.- **Widget to enable:** Form, switched on under **The Plus Addons > Widgets**.- A Kit account, its **API Key** and the **Form ID** of a Kit form.- Name your fields' **Unique ID** (field **Advance** tab) exactly like this: `email` for the email address, `first_name` for the first name and `phone` for the phone number. Other fields are not sent.

## Get Your Kit API Key

Log in to Kit, then:

- Click your profile at the top right and choose **Settings**.- Click **Developer** in the left menu.- Copy the **API Key**. The widget uses Kit's v3 API.

## Create a Kit Form and Find Its ID

- In Kit, go to **Grow > Landing Pages & Forms** and click **Create a Form**.- Choose a form type and a template, then publish it.

- Copy the **Form ID** Kit shows for the form.- In the form's settings in Kit, turn off double opt-in if you want subscribers added without a confirmation email.

## Connect the Form Widget

- Add the Form widget to your page and set up your fields.- In **Content > Submit Actions**, add **ConvertKit** to **Add Action**.- Open the **ConvertKit** section and fill in the fields below, then publish.

| Form ID | The ID of the Kit form subscribers are added to |

## How It Behaves

- Each submission subscribes the email address to the Kit form, with the first name and phone number.

## Limitations

- Only the email, first name and phone number are sent.

## Troubleshooting

### Visitors see “There was an error in submitting the form.”

The service rejected the request. Re-copy the key and ID without spaces, check the Email field's Unique ID is `email`, and test again. While this error shows, a Redirect action does not run.
