# How to Connect Mailchimp to an Elementor Form?

## 

- Connects Mailchimp to Elementor Form using The Plus Addons for Elementor's Form widget.

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — The Mailchimp action needs The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. The free plugin does not list it.- **Widget to enable:** Form, switched on under **The Plus Addons > Widgets**.- A Mailchimp account, an **API key** and your **Audience ID**.- Name your fields' **Unique ID** (field **Advance** tab) exactly like this: `email` for the email address and `first_name` for the first name. Other fields are not sent.

## Get Your Mailchimp API Key

Log in to Mailchimp, then:

- Click your profile at the top right and choose **Account & billing**.

- Go to **Extras > API keys**.

- Click **Create A Key**, name it and click **Generate Key**.

- Copy the whole key, including the part after the dash (for example `-us21`).

## Find Your Mailchimp Audience ID

- Go to **Audience > All contacts**. If you have several audiences, pick the right one first.- Click **Settings**.

- Copy the **Audience ID** shown on the settings page.

## Connect the Form Widget

- Add the Form widget to your page and set up your fields.- In **Content > Submit Actions**, add **Mailchimp** to **Add Action**.- Open the **Mailchimp** section and fill in the fields below, then publish.

| Setting | What to enter |
| ------- | ------------- |
| API Key | Your full Mailchimp API key, including the `-us` part at the end |
| Audience ID | The ID of the audience that should receive the contacts |

## How It Behaves

- Each submission adds the email address to the audience with the status *subscribed*, and the first name in the `FNAME` field.- Mailchimp's double opt-in email is not sent: the contact is subscribed directly.

## Limitations

- Only the email and first name are sent.- Make sure your form tells visitors they are joining your mailing list, since they are subscribed straight away.

## Troubleshooting

### Nothing reaches Mailchimp

Copy the API key again with the part after the dash. The widget uses that part to find your Mailchimp server, so a shortened key fails.

### Visitors see “There was an error in submitting the form.”

The service rejected the request. Re-copy the key and ID without spaces, check the Email field's Unique ID is `email`, and test again. While this error shows, a Redirect action does not run.
