# How to Send a Message to a Slack Channel from Elementor Form?

## 

- The Form widget from The Plus Addons for Elementor posts each submission as a message in a Slack channel through a Slack action.
- The Slack action needs The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro, a Slack User OAuth Token, and the chat:write user scope from OAuth & Permissions.
- Each submission sends every field as field ID: value plus the date, time, page URL, browser, and IP address, so sensitive forms use a private channel.

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — The Slack action needs The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. The free plugin does not list it.- **Widget to enable:** Form, switched on under **The Plus Addons > Widgets**.- A Slack workspace where you can install apps, a **User OAuth Token** and the channel name.

## Get a Slack User OAuth Token

Go to the Slack API site (api.slack.com) and sign in, then:

- Click **Your apps** and then **Create an App**.

- Choose **From scratch**, name the app and pick your workspace, then click **Create App**.

- Open **OAuth & Permissions** in the left sidebar.

- Under **User Token Scopes**, add the `chat:write` scope. That is the only one the form needs.

- Scroll up and click **Install to (your workspace)**, then **Allow**. If you are not a workspace admin, Slack sends the request to your admin.

- Copy the **User OAuth Token** that appears.

## Connect the Form Widget

- Add the Form widget to your page and set up your fields.- In **Content > Submit Actions**, add **Slack** to **Add Action**.- Open the **Slack** section and fill in the fields below, then publish.

| Setting | What to enter |
| ------- | ------------- |
| User OAuth Token | The token from OAuth & Permissions (it starts with `xoxp-`) |
| Channel Name | The channel that should receive the messages, for example `#website-leads` |

## How It Behaves

- Each submission posts one message: every field as *field ID: value*, then the date, time, page URL, browser and IP address.

## Limitations

- Every field is sent, including personal data. Use a private channel if the form collects sensitive details.

## Troubleshooting

### No message appears in the channel

Check the token has the `chat:write` user scope and that the channel name is spelled correctly.

### Visitors see “There was an error in submitting the form.”

The service rejected the request. Re-copy the URL or token without spaces, and test again. While this error shows, a Redirect action does not run.
