# How to Make a Custom Password Reset Form in Elementor?

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — the WP Login & Register widget is only part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. The free plugin lists it as a locked Pro widget and does not add it to Elementor.- **Widget to enable:** WP Login & Register, switched on under **The Plus Addons > Widgets**.- Two pages: your login page, and an empty page for the reset form (for example “Reset Password”). Publish the reset page before you select it.- Working email on your site. The reset link is sent by email, so use an SMTP plugin if your host does not deliver WordPress mail reliably.

## Step 1: Set Up the Login Page

- Add the **WP Login & Register** widget to your login page and set **Type** to **Login** or **Login and Register**.- In **Forms Layout**, set **Password Reset Page** to **Custom**.- In **Select Page**, choose your reset page.

- Open **Login Options** and make sure **Lost your password?** is on (it is on by default). Its **Content** field sets the link text.

## Step 2: Set Up the Reset Page

- Edit the reset page and add the **WP Login & Register** widget.- Set **Type** to **Forgot Password**.

- Open **Reset Password Option** and leave **Login/Register Form Override** on. With it off, the reset page stays empty when a visitor opens the email link.- Optional: turn on **Strong Password Required** in the same section.- Publish the page.

## How It Behaves

- On the login page, the visitor clicks the lost password link. A small form appears under the login form with the heading “Lost your password?” and the **Email Reset Link** button.- They enter their username or email. The form confirms with “Mail sent. Please check your mailbox.” An unknown username or email gets “ERROR: There is no account with that username or email address.”- The email link opens your reset page with a new password field and a confirm field.- If the two passwords differ, the form shows “Password does not match. Please try again.”- After a successful reset, the visitor is sent back to the login page and can log in with the new password.

With **Password Reset Page** set to **Default**, the email link opens the standard WordPress reset screen instead.

## Limitations

- **Keep Login/Register Form Override on** for a **Forgot Password** reset page. With it off, the page showed nothing when the email link was opened.- In a custom reset email, the placeholders work in the message only. In the subject, [tplr_username] was sent as plain text.- An unknown username shows the plugin's own error text, not your **Error text**.- The widget is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro only.

## Troubleshooting

### The reset email never arrives

The widget hands the email to WordPress. Test your site's mail with an SMTP plugin and check the spam folder.

### The email link opens an empty page

Edit the reset page and turn **Login/Register Form Override** back on, or check that the widget on that page is set to **Forgot Password** or **Login**.

### The link still opens the WordPress screen

On the login page, set **Password Reset Page** to **Custom** and select the reset page, then request a new link.
