# How to change Accordion Items automatically with Autoplay in Elementor?

##

- The Accordion widget from The Plus Addons for Elementor includes an Autoplay option, and it is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro, while the free plugin shows an upgrade notice instead of working.
- Autoplay starts when the accordion scrolls into view, opens the next item every few seconds, and loops back to the first item after the last one.
- Content > Special Option lets the editor turn on Autoplay, set Duration with a default of 5 seconds, and optionally add a Play & Pause Button with icons plus Color and Border Size for the progress line.

Do you want your accordion to move through its items on its own, like a slideshow? Autoplay opens the next item every few seconds, so visitors see every highlight without clicking.

The Accordion widget from The Plus Addons for Elementor has an **Autoplay** option.

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — Autoplay is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. In the free plugin the option shows an upgrade notice instead of working.- **Widget to enable:** Accordion, switched on under **The Plus Addons > Widgets**.

## Steps

- Add the Accordion widget and your items.- In **Content > Special Option**, turn on **Autoplay** and click the pencil next to it.- Set **Duration** — the seconds each item stays open (default 5).- Optional: turn on **Play & Pause Button** and pick its icons, and set the **Color** and **Border Size** of the progress line under the open item.

## How It Behaves

- It starts when the accordion scrolls into view, not before.- It keeps going round: after the last item it goes back to the first.- **Clicking any title stops it.** If the Play & Pause Button is on, visitors can start it again from there.

## Limitations

- **The note in the editor is wrong.** It says autoplay runs once per page load; it actually loops until a visitor clicks.- **Keep the Duration long enough to read** the longest item.

## Troubleshooting

### Autoplay stopped

A visitor (or you) clicked a title. Reload the page, or use the Play & Pause Button.

### It doesn't start

It waits until the accordion is on screen. Scroll to it on the published page.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: Why does accordion autoplay stop when someone clicks a title?**
A: A click on any accordion title stops autoplay immediately. That matters because the widget is designed to hand control back to the visitor once they interact with it, instead of fighting their input. If you want autoplay to continue after that, the page says to reload the page or use the Play & Pause Button to start it again. The Plus Addons for Elementor, The Plus Addons, Plus Addons for Elementor, POSIMYTH provides this behavior in the Accordion widget.

**Q: How do I make an Elementor accordion autoplay through items automatically?**
A: The Accordion widget in The Plus Addons for Elementor has an Autoplay option under Content > Special Option. Turn it on, then set the Duration so each item stays open for a chosen number of seconds, with 5 seconds as the default. If you want more control, you can also enable the Play & Pause Button and set its icons plus the progress line color and border size.

**Q: Does Elementor accordion autoplay work in the free version?**
A: Autoplay is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. In the free plugin, that option shows an upgrade notice instead of working. That distinction matters if you are troubleshooting why the control is visible but nothing happens. The Accordion widget itself is switched on under The Plus Addons > Widgets, but autoplay needs the Pro edition.

**Q: Why isn't my accordion autoplay starting on page load?**
A: Autoplay waits until the accordion scrolls into view, so it does not start before the widget is on screen. If it looks broken, scroll to the accordion on the published page and watch for it there. That behavior is intentional and helps avoid hidden widgets animating off-screen before a visitor reaches them.

**Q: What is the best duration for accordion autoplay items?**
A: The Duration should be long enough for people to read the longest item. The default is 5 seconds, but that only works if your content is short. If items are text-heavy, a longer duration reduces rushed reading and makes the loop feel intentional instead of frantic. The Plus Addons for Elementor lets you set this in Content > Special Option.

**Q: Can I use accordion autoplay like a slideshow that loops forever?**
A: The autoplay behavior loops continuously after it starts. It opens the next item every few seconds, and after the last item it goes back to the first. That makes it behave more like a rotating highlight reel than a one-time sequence. The editor note says it runs once per page load, but the actual behavior is a loop until someone clicks a title.
