# How to Change the Mouse Cursor for a Container in Elementor?

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — Mouse Cursor is only in The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. With the Pro plugin switched off the widget is not in the editor at all, and a page that already uses it shows no cursor effect and no notice.- **Widget to enable:** Mouse Cursor, switched on under **The Plus Addons > Widgets**.- **Where to drop it:** anywhere inside the container whose cursor you want to change. The widget itself is invisible, so its position on the page does not matter — only which container it sits in.- **Check it on the published page:** the widget draws nothing in the Elementor editor. The panel says so too: *This widget works only at frontend*.- **Desktop only:** every cursor effect is switched off when the browser window is **991px wide or narrower**, so nothing happens on phones and most tablets.

## Change the Cursor for One Container

- Drag the **Mouse Cursor** widget into the container whose cursor you want to change. Anywhere inside it will do — the widget is invisible on the page.- In **Content**, set **Cursor Area** to **Container**.

- Pick a **Type** and fill in its settings — a **Cursor Icon** image, a **Follow Text** phrase, a **Follow Circle**, and so on.- Publish the page and move the pointer in and out of that container.

The effect appears as soon as the pointer enters the container and disappears the moment it leaves. In testing, the follow element measured fully visible inside the chosen container and completely hidden while the pointer was in the container above it.

## Which Container Does It Use?

The nearest container the widget sits in. If your containers are nested, the widget picks the innermost one around it, so drop it at the level you actually want.

## How It Behaves

- The container is the boundary. Nothing shows outside it.- The widget itself renders nothing, in the editor or on the page, so it does not affect your layout or spacing.- Two containers each need their own Mouse Cursor widget.- Below 992px of window width the effect is switched off entirely.

## Limitations

- The widget is Pro only. With the Pro plugin switched off there is no cursor effect and no notice on the page.- Nothing happens when the browser window is **991px or narrower**, so container cursors never appear on phones or most tablets.- **Container** only matches Elementor containers. ## Troubleshooting

### The cursor shows everywhere, not just in my container

**Cursor Area** is probably still on **Body**. Set it to **Container**.

### Nothing shows at all

Check that the widget really is inside the container you mean — the Navigator panel makes this easy to see — and that you are looking at the published page, not the editor.

### It shows in a smaller area than I expected

The widget picked an inner container. Drag it out to the outer container.
