# Number Counter: Settings Overview

##

- The Number Counter widget animates a number up to a target value when it scrolls into view, and a front-end test with Number Value set to 2500 settles on 2,500 after roughly 2.5 seconds.
- The Plus Addons for Elementor requires Elementor (free) installed and active, and the Number Counter widget is enabled from The Plus Addons > Widgets by turning its toggle on.
- Number Value defaults to 1000, Animation Starting Number Value defaults to 0, Number Gap For Animation has no default set, and Thousand Separator is Off by default.

The **Number Counter** widget animates a number counting up to a target value when it scrolls into view.

This settings tour covers the core counting controls; see the other Number Counter doc for a step-by-step walkthrough.

***Requirement - This widget is a part of The Plus Addons for Elementor, make sure it's installed & activated to enjoy all its powers.***

## Before You Start

- **Prerequisite:** [Elementor](https://wordpress.org/plugins/elementor/) (free) installed and active.- **Widget to enable:** go to **The Plus Addons > Widgets**, search for **Number Counter** and turn its toggle on.

## Steps

- Add the **Number Counter** widget to your page.- Set **Number Value** to the final number you want the counter to reach.- Set **Animation Starting Number Value** if you don't want the count to start from zero.- Turn on **Thousand Separator** if the final value is large enough to benefit from comma grouping.

## How It Behaves

Confirmed on the front end with a real test: with **Number Value** set to 2500 and **Thousand Separator** on, scrolling the widget into view showed the counter mid-animation (a value like **115**), and after roughly 2.5 seconds it settled on **2,500** with the comma in place. No console errors.

## Settings Overview

| Setting | What it does | Default |
| ------- | ------------ | ------- |
| Number Value | The final number the counter animates up to. | 1000 |
| Animation Starting Number Value | The number the animation starts counting from. | 0 |
| Number Gap For Animation | The step size used while animating. | (none set) |
| Thousand Separator | Adds a comma every three digits in the final value. | Off |

## Not verified

So you know exactly what has and has not been checked:

- Whether a prefix/suffix-style text control exists elsewhere in the widget - none was found under those names in this pass.- Title and Digit style sections, Background Option.- Free vs Pro control split.- Mobile rendering.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: Why does the number counter start from zero instead of my target value?**
A: The counter starts from the Animation Starting Number Value, and that default is 0. That matters because the widget is built to animate upward into the final Number Value, not just display a static total. If you want a different lead-in, set a starting number before the animation runs. The Plus Addons for Elementor, The Plus Addons, Plus Addons for Elementor, POSIMYTH provides this control inside the Number Counter widget.

**Q: How do I make a large counter easier to read with commas?**
A: Turn on Thousand Separator when the final value is large enough to benefit from comma grouping. In the page’s test case, 2500 displayed as 2,500 once the animation finished, which is much easier to scan at a glance. That setting only affects the final value formatting, so it is mainly useful when you want cleaner presentation for bigger numbers in Elementor.

**Q: Does the Number Counter animate only when it scrolls into view?**
A: The widget animates when it scrolls into view, so it is tied to visibility rather than running immediately on page load. That behavior helps keep attention on the number when users actually reach that section. The page’s front-end test also showed no console errors during animation, which is a good sign for basic stability in The Plus Addons for Elementor.

**Q: What should I set for a counter that needs to end at a specific number?**
A: Set Number Value to the final number you want the counter to reach. That field is the endpoint of the animation, so it controls what visitors see once the count finishes. If you need a different starting point too, use Animation Starting Number Value alongside it. The default Number Value shown in the settings overview is 1000.

**Q: How do I add an animated number counter in Elementor without guessing the setup?**
A: The settings tour covers the core counting controls, but the step-by-step walkthrough lives in [How to add an Animated Number Counter for Elementor?](https://theplusaddons.com/docs/animated-number-counter-for-elementor/). That split matters because this page focuses on behavior and settings, while the other doc walks through adding it to a page. The Plus Addons for Elementor, The Plus Addons, Plus Addons for Elementor, POSIMYTH provides both docs around the same widget.

**Q: What are people most likely to get wrong when setting up a number counter?**
A: The common mistake is treating Number Gap For Animation like a visual spacing option when it is actually the step size used while animating. Another easy miss is leaving Thousand Separator off on larger values, which makes numbers harder to read once they get into the thousands. The widget also defaults to 1000 for Number Value and 0 for Animation Starting Number Value, so those defaults can hide setup mistakes if you do not check them.
