# How to Hide Countdown Days/Hours/Mins/Seconds in Elementor Countdown Timer?

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** the **Countdown** widget itself is in the free plugin, but this page uses a **Pro** setting (see the next line).- **Pro feature:** **The Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds switches** is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor **Pro**. In the free plugin the control is either missing or replaced by an upgrade notice.- **Prerequisite:** [Elementor](https://wordpress.org/plugins/elementor/) (free) installed and active.- **Widget to enable:** go to **The Plus Addons > Widgets**, search for **Countdown** and turn its toggle on.

## Steps

- Select the **Countdown** widget on your page.- Open **Content > Content Source**.- You will see four switches: **Days**, **Hours**, **Minutes** and **Seconds**. Each reads **Show** when on and **Hide** when off, and all four start on.- Switch off the ones you do not want.- Update the page and check the front end.

## How It Behaves

Measured on published pages, the same deadline rendered under each style:

The hidden unit is removed from the page, not merely made invisible, and the remaining units close up. It works in all three **Countdown Style** presets.

## Limitations

- **Hiding a unit hides time, it does not roll it up.** The hours column does not start counting past 24 when **Days** is off. A three-day sale with **Days** hidden will look like a few hours to the reader.- **The switches are not responsive.** They are single on/off values, so you cannot show seconds on desktop and hide them on mobile from this section.- **Style 2 and Style 3 read the deadline in the visitor's timezone; Style 1 reads it in your site's.** This was isolated with a controlled test. One **Launch Date**, nothing else changed: from a browser five and a half hours ahead of the site, **Style 1** showed **02 DAYS 01 HOURS 56 MINUTES** left while **Style 2** and **Style 3** showed **1 Day 20 Hours 25 Minutes** — short by exactly that offset. Repeating it with the browser set to the site's own timezone made all three agree. So on a live site a **Style 2** or **Style 3** sale ends at a different real-world moment for every visitor, and for visitors far enough ahead of your site it can be over before it starts. If the exact end time matters, use **Style 1**.- **Turn Elementor's element cache off for this widget.** Elementor's **Element Cache** is on by default and stores rendered markup for a day, which can serve a stale deadline. Set **Advanced > Layout > Cache Settings** to **Inactive** on the Countdown widget, or disable it site-wide under **Elementor > Settings > Performance**.

## Troubleshooting

### I switched a unit off and it is still showing

Save the page and reload the front end — the Elementor preview can lag behind. If it persists, clear any page cache, and set **Advanced > Layout > Cache Settings** to **Inactive** on the widget.

### I only want to lose the words, not the numbers

That is **Show Labels**, the popover toggle just above the four switches, not the unit switches themselves.

### My three-day sale now says one hour left

You have hidden **Days**. Turn it back on, or only hide it once the deadline is genuinely inside 24 hours.
