# How to Add Reviews Manually in Elementor?

##

- The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro includes the Social Reviews widget, and the free plugin has no widget file, CSS, or JavaScript for it at all.
- Manual source lets a review be entered directly with User Profile Image, Username, Review Message, Platform, Platform Name, Platform Logo, Date, Rating Value (1-5), Category (For Filter), and Max Results.
- Manual reviews render exactly as typed, and the Platform setting controls the logo and wording while Date prints whatever text is entered.
- Text Limit is on by default at 100 characters, and Load More and Lazy Load do not currently load past the initial count on a published page.

Not every review lives on Facebook or Google. The **Manual** source lets you type a review straight into the widget — name, message, rating, date and the platform it came from.

It is also the only source that needs no account, no API key and no access token, so it is the quickest way to see what the widget looks like.

For the full settings tour of the **Social Reviews** widget, see [Social Reviews Widget Settings Overview](https://theplusaddons.com/docs/social-reviews-widget-settings-overview/).

***Requirement - This widget is a part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro, make sure it's installed & activated to enjoy all its powers.***

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — **Social Reviews** ships only in The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. The widget does not exist in the free plugin at all: no widget file, no CSS and no JavaScript, so there is nothing to fall back to.- **Prerequisite:** [Elementor](https://wordpress.org/plugins/elementor/) (free) installed and active.- **Widget to enable:** go to **The Plus Addons > Widgets**, search for **Social Reviews** and turn its toggle on.- **No account needed:** the **Manual** source needs no token, no key and no login. It is the one source you can use straight away.

## Add a manual review

- Edit the page with Elementor and drag the **Social Reviews** widget onto it.- In **Content > Content**, leave **Type** on **Reviews** and pick a **Style** and **Layout**.- Open the first item under **Social Reviews** and set **Source** to **Manual**. The panel swaps the token fields for the review fields.

- Fill in the review, then click **Add Item** and repeat for the next one.

## The fields

| Field | What it does | Note |
| ----- | ------------ | ---- |
| **User Profile Image** | The reviewer's avatar. | Leave it empty and a grey placeholder is used. |
| **Username** | The name shown on the card. | Placeholder: Enter Username |
| **Review Message** | The review text itself. | Placeholder: Enter Message |
| **Platform** | Which logo and wording the card carries. **Facebook** and **Google** use those logos; **Manual** lets you supply your own. | Default **Facebook** |
| **Platform Name** | Your own label for the source. | Only shown when **Platform** is **Manual** |
| **Platform Logo** | Your own logo image. | Only shown when **Platform** is **Manual** |
| **Date** | Shown at the foot of the card. | Free text, so write it however you like — nothing is parsed |
| **Rating Value (1-5)** | How many rating icons are filled in. | Placeholder: Enter Value |
| **Rating Icon** | Which icon the rating uses. | A star by default |
| **Category (For Filter)** | A label for this row, used by the category filter. | Placeholder: e.g. Category1, Category2 |
| **Max Results** | How many reviews this row contributes. | Default **6** |

## How It Behaves

- **Manual reviews render exactly as typed.** Six manual rows produced six cards on the published page, each with its name, its rating icons, its message, its platform line and its date.- **The platform line follows the Platform setting, not the Source.** A manual review with **Platform** set to **Google** shows the Google logo and **Posted On Google**. Setting it to **Manual** and filling in **Platform Name** shows your own wording instead.- **Date is not a date field.** Whatever you type is printed as written.- **Manual rows mix freely with Facebook and Google rows** in the same widget.

## Limitations

- **Review text is truncated out of the box.** **Text Limit** is on by default with **Limit Count** at **100** characters, so longer reviews end in **...Show More** before you change anything. Turn **Text Limit** off under **Content > Extra Options** to show reviews in full.- **Leave User Profile Image empty and you get a grey placeholder**, not a blank space or an initial. Supply an image if that matters to you.- **In the Carousel layout the source logo is rendered very large.** With **Style-1** and the default carousel settings, the Google and Facebook logos fill most of the card, and a **Manual** row with no **Platform Logo** set draws a big grey placeholder. In the Grid layout the same logos are small.- **Load More and Lazy Load do not currently load anything.** On a published page with six manual reviews, **Maximum Posts Display** at 3 and **More Post Loading** set to **Load More**, clicking the button left the count at three, changed the button to **Loading...** permanently and raised a JavaScript error. **Lazy Load** likewise never went past the initial count. No credential was involved, so this is not an API problem. Until it is fixed, show every review you want visible.- **Rating Value has no validation.** It is a free-text field labelled **Rating Value (1-5)**; keep it inside that range yourself.

## Not verified

So you know exactly what has and has not been checked:

- **Exclude Post Ids actually removing a review.** The ids are editor-only, and the five values tried without opening the editor did not remove anything. That is inconclusive: it is not evidence the feature is broken, and it is not evidence it works.- **The Style tab.** Only the three content **Style** presets were rendered; no colour, typography or per-source styling control was exercised.- **What happens to a Rating Value outside 1 to 5**, or to a non-numeric one. Only whole values in range were used.

## Troubleshooting

### The avatar is a grey box

No **User Profile Image** was set on that row. Add one, or accept the placeholder.

### The card shows a Facebook logo although the review is not from Facebook

**Platform** defaults to **Facebook**. Set it to **Manual** and fill in **Platform Name** and **Platform Logo**.

### My review text is cut short

**Text Limit** is on by default at 100 characters. Raise **Limit Count** or turn the toggle off under **Content > Extra Options**.

### Only some of my reviews appear

Check **Max Results** on the row, and check whether **More Post Loading** is set under **Load More/Lazy Load**.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: What do I need before I can add reviews manually in Elementor?**
A: Manual reviews are the fastest path because they need no account, no API key, and no access token. The Social Reviews widget is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro, so the Pro edition has to be installed and activated, and Elementor free must already be active. In practice, that makes Manual the easiest source for testing the widget layout before connecting any live review source.

**Q: How do manual reviews behave compared with Facebook or Google reviews?**
A: Manual reviews render exactly as typed, so the card shows the name, rating icons, message, platform line, and date you enter. The platform line follows the Platform setting, not the Source field. That means a manual row can still show Google branding if Platform is set to Google, or your own wording if Platform is set to Manual with a Platform Name and Platform Logo.

**Q: Why is my review text getting cut off in the card?**
A: Text Limit is on by default with a Limit Count of 100 characters, so longer reviews end in ...Show More until you change it. That behavior matters because manual reviews are not auto-expanded just because they were typed in directly. Turning Text Limit off under Content > Extra Options shows the full review text instead of trimming it.

**Q: Why does my review show a Facebook logo when it was not posted on Facebook?**
A: Platform defaults to Facebook, so a manual row will inherit Facebook branding unless you change it. Set Platform to Manual if you want your own label and logo, then fill in Platform Name and Platform Logo. That distinction matters because Source controls where the data comes from, while Platform controls what the card displays.

**Q: What should I use for manual reviews if I want them mixed with other review sources?**
A: Manual rows mix freely with Facebook and Google rows in the same widget, so they work well when you want a mixed social proof wall instead of one source only. The Plus Addons for Elementor, The Plus Addons, Plus Addons for Elementor, POSIMYTH supports that setup inside the Social Reviews widget. If you need a broader wall layout later, the related docs include [How to Create a Multi-Social Media Wall Review in Elementor?](https://theplusaddons.com/docs/create-a-multi-social-media-wall-review-in-elementor/).

**Q: Why are only some of my manual reviews showing on the page?**
A: Max Results controls how many reviews each row contributes, so a low value can hide items even when they exist in the editor. The page also notes that More Post Loading set to Load More did not load additional items in testing, and Lazy Load stayed at the initial count. For now, plan around what is visible at publish time instead of expecting those loading modes to reveal everything.
