# How to Create Image Gallery with Repeater in Elementor?

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — the Repeater source is part of The Plus Addons for Elementor Pro. In the free plugin the option is visible but shows an upgrade notice instead of its settings.- **Widget to enable:** Gallery Listing, switched on under **ThePlus Settings > Widgets**.

Use Normal when the pictures are the whole point. Use Repeater when each image needs to say something or go somewhere.

## Step 1: Add the widget and pick a layout

Drag the **Gallery Listing** widget onto the page and choose a layout in **Content > Layout**. Repeater works with all four layouts.

## Step 2: Switch the source to Repeater

Open **Content > Content** and set **Select Option** to **Repeater**. The *Add Images* picker is replaced by a list of rows, and two are there to start with.

## Step 3: Fill in a row

Click a row to open it. Each one holds:

- **Choose Image** — the picture itself.- **Title** — a heading shown with the image.- **Caption** — a short description beneath it.- **Category** — the label the filter groups by. Several categories can be given for one image, separated by commas.- **Select Icon** — an extra icon or image overlaid on the tile.- **Custom URL** — where this specific image links to.

## Step 4: Add the rest of your images

Click **Add Item** for each additional image and repeat. Rows can be dragged to reorder, which matters on the Metro layout, where position decides which tile is large.

## Limitations

- **Repeater is Pro.** The free plugin shows the option and then an upgrade notice.- **Placeholder text ships enabled.** The Caption field has default Latin text; leaving it publishes that text.- **It is slower to fill.** Fifty images means fifty rows. ## Troubleshooting

### Select Option has no Repeater choice, or it shows an upgrade notice

Repeater is a Pro feature. In the free plugin the option appears but reveals an upgrade message instead of the rows.

### My titles and captions do not appear

Check **Display Excerpt/Content** in **Content > Extra Options** has not been switched off. It is **on by default**, so if titles and captions are missing, either that toggle was turned off or the rows themselves are empty.

### The filter is not showing my categories

The category filter only works with the Repeater source, and only for categories actually typed into rows. Check for typos — *Nature* and *nature * with a trailing space are two different categories.
