How to Create an Elementor Gallery with ACF Gallery?

Table Of Content

Are you looking to create a dynamic Elementor image gallery with the ACF Gallery field? By using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) Pro with the Gallery Listing widget in The Plus Addons for Elementor, you can build image galleries that pull photos directly from custom fields on any post type.

The Gallery Listing widget in The Plus Addons for Elementor lets you create dynamic image galleries using the ACF Gallery field, so each post or page automatically shows its own set of images without rebuilding the gallery layout each time.

Best Used For:

  • Photography portfolios and creative agency sites where each client page needs a dedicated image gallery
  • Real estate sites displaying property photo galleries stored as ACF fields on listing posts
  • Membership or learning sites where each course or instructor page shows a different set of images

To use the ACF Gallery field, you need to install and activate the ACF Pro plugin on your site.

You also need to create a gallery field and assign it to your desired post type.

From the Dashboard, go to ACF > Field Groups and click Add New.

Acf add new field group

Note: You can add a gallery field to your existing field group as well.

In the Add New Field Group field, enter a name for your field group.

Select Gallery from the Field Type dropdown and enter a name in the Field Label field.

In the Return Format and Library sections, keep the default settings.

In the Settings section, set the location rule to assign this field group to your desired post type. For example, set it to Post to show the gallery field on all blog posts.

Copy the gallery field name. You will need it in the next step.

On every blog post edit page, you will now see the gallery field. Open a post and add the images you want to display for that post.

Make sure you have added images to at least a few posts before continuing.

If you want to display other types of dynamic content from ACF fields in Elementor, see How to Add Dynamic Content in Elementor.

To make the gallery dynamic, add the Gallery Listing widget to a template shared across your posts, such as a single post template or a sidebar template.

In the Layout tab, select your preferred listing style and layout.

Then go to the Content tab and choose ACF Gallery from the Select Option dropdown.

Use this when you want a different set of gallery images to appear automatically on each post without rebuilding the layout.

In the Gallery Field Name field, paste the gallery field name you copied from ACF.

The gallery will now show dynamically on every post where you have added images through the ACF Gallery field.
