How can you use an Elementor template inside the Tabs widget?

A text editor is enough for simple tab content. For galleries, forms, pricing cards or product grids, you need the full Elementor editor.

The Tabs/Tours widget from The Plus Addons for Elementor can show a saved Elementor template inside any tab. This works in the free plugin.

Requirement – This widget is a part of The Plus Addons for Elementor, make sure it’s installed & activated to enjoy all its powers.

Before You Start

• Edition: Free — this works in the free plugin; Pro is not needed.
• Widget to enable: Tabs/Tours, switched on under The Plus Addons > Widgets.
• A published Elementor template with the content for the tab.

Step 1: Create the Template

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Templates > Saved Templates.
2. Click Add New Template, or import one, and build the content with any Elementor widgets.
3. Publish the template.

Step 2: Show It in a Tab

1. Add the Tabs/Tours widget and open a tab in Content.
2. Set Type to Page Template.
3. Leave Templates on Template and choose your template in the dropdown below it. An Edit Template button appears once a template is chosen, and a Create Template button while none is.

4. Publish the page. The tab shows your template:

Use a Shortcode Instead

Set Templates to Shortcode and paste the template shortcode into Elementor Templates Shortcode, in the form , where 123 is the ID of the template.

Backend Visibility

Backend Visibility is off by default. The editor then shows a “Selected Template” note instead of the template, which keeps the editor fast. In our test the note did not show the template name. Turn Backend Visibility on to see the template in the editor. Visitors see the template either way.

Limitations

• The template must be published. With a draft template, visitors see an “Unauthorized Access” notice in the tab.
• One template per tab. You can mix text tabs and template tabs in the same widget.

Troubleshooting

The editor shows a Selected Template note instead of the template

That is Backend Visibility being off. Turn it on, or check the published page.

Visitors see Unauthorized Access

Publish the template, then clear any page cache.

The tab says Select Template

No template is chosen in the dropdown. Pick one, or switch Templates to Shortcode.
