How to generate Elementor Google Maps Widget API Key?

To use The Plus Addons for Elementor Google Map widget, you must have a Google Maps API key.

Here is how to generate an Elementor Google Maps API key step by step.

To create a Google Maps API key click here.

From there, click the Go to the Credentials page button.

Note: This widget is a part of The Plus Addons for Elementor. Make sure it is installed and activated before using the Google Map widget.

Create a New Project

On the Google Cloud Credentials page, create a new project to begin the API key setup.

  2. Enter your location and click the Create button.

Set up Billing

Once the project is created, Google will prompt you to set up billing information on the next page. Billing is required to generate an Elementor Google Maps API key, even if you plan to stay within the free usage tier.

  1. Choose your country.
  2. Agree to the Terms of Service and click the Continue button.

Step 2: Create a new billing account

  1. Choose a name for your billing account.
  2. Verify the details and click the Continue button.

On the next page, add your billing information.

  2. Fill in your Tax information.
  3. Add your personal details.
  4. Add a payment method such as a credit card and click Submit and Enable Billing.

On the next page, choose your project’s billing account and click the Set Account button.

Google Maps will then ask a few questions about your project, such as your industry and the platform you are building for. Fill in the answers and click Submit.

On the next page, Google will display your Google Maps API key. Copy the key and click Go to Google Maps Platform.

Now you have your API key. As per Google Maps recommendations, you need to restrict the usage of your API key by limiting it to the required APIs for your application.

Protect your API (adding Maps Embed API)

On the next page, Google Maps will prompt you to protect your API key. Restricting your key prevents unauthorized use and helps you stay within the free usage limits.

  1. Select the restriction type as API restriction.
  2. From the Limit usage dropdown, select Maps Embed API and click Restrict Key.

Your API key usage is now restricted. To see all enabled APIs for your project, click APIs in the left panel to view the list.

Now add the API key to The Plus Addons for Elementor settings to activate the Google Map widget. Go to

  • The Plus Addons for ElementorExtra OptionsSettings
  • Scroll down to the Google Map API section and enable it.
  • Click the settings icon, enter your key in the Map API Key field, and click Save.
