# Elementor Build With Prompts Vs MCP: Build Elementor Pages With AI (Using More Than Native Widgets)

##

- Elementor ships Angie’s “Build with prompts” in late September 2026, and it turns one sentence into a full Elementor page with editable structure, sections, content, and styling.
- Angie includes Plan Mode, which asks clarifying questions for larger requests before anything runs, and it saves every version so an earlier one can be restored.
- Elementor Pro plans are required for Atomic Forms and Atomic Loop, and the Atomic Editor must be enabled under WP Admin > Elementor > Editor > Settings > Atomic Editor.
- Elementor MCP requires WordPress 6.8 or higher plus Elementor Core and Elementor Pro version 4.3.0 or higher, and the setup flow includes Enable MCP access, Generate Prompt, and an application password created in the background.
- The Plus Addons for Elementor registers WordPress abilities for MCP clients, with 94 abilities in The Plus Addons free edition and 151 in The Plus Addons + Pro, including widget abilities that switch from tpae/tpae- to tpaep/tpaep- when Pro is active.

Elementor AI now builds whole pages, not just paragraphs and images. In late September 2026, Elementor shipped two things close together: Angie's "Build with prompts", which turns one sentence into a full Elementor page, and the official Elementor MCP in version 4.3, which lets Claude, Cursor, Codex and other AI tools build inside your site from the outside.

Both routes produce real, editable Elementor structure. They differ in where you type the prompt, which widgets the AI can reach, what it costs, and how much setup you do first. This post compares them side by side, shows example prompts for each, and explains how an MCP client can also place widgets from The Plus Addons for Elementor, so your AI-built pages are not limited to the native widget set.

## Two Ways To Build Elementor Pages With AI

Until recently, "Elementor AI" mostly meant writing a heading, generating an image or producing a container from a prompt inside the editor. The September 2026 releases moved the unit of work from a single element to a whole page. There are now two practical routes.

- **Route 1: Angie's Build With Prompts.** You describe a page to Angie, Elementor's agentic AI, inside WordPress. Angie plans the page, builds it on your design system and hands you an editable result.- **Route 2: The MCP route.** You connect an outside AI client, such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or Codex, to your site through the Model Context Protocol. The client then calls tools, called abilities, that WordPress plugins register. Elementor registers its own abilities, and so does The Plus Addons for Elementor.

The first route keeps everything inside Elementor's own product. The second turns your site into something any MCP client can work on, and the set of widgets the AI can place depends on which plugins registered abilities.

***Want Your AI Client to Place More Than Native Widgets?** See how [MCP Abilities in The Plus Addons for Elementor](https://theplusaddons.com/mcp-abilities/) let Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients add our widgets to Elementor containers, one ability per widget.*

## What Angie's Build With Prompts Actually Does

Elementor's announcement, [Build with prompts: Generate a full page in Elementor](https://elementor.com/blog/build-with-prompts/), describes Angie building the complete layout, sections, content and styling of a page from a plain-language request. The output is real Elementor structure, not an image or a one-off export, and you can open it in the editor and change anything by hand.

A few details from that post matter when you compare it with MCP:

- **Plan Mode.** For larger requests, Angie can ask clarifying questions first, and nothing runs until you confirm the plan.- **Design system first.** Angie can generate a starting design system of colors and fonts from a description or a reference screenshot. Pages built afterward inherit it.- **Version history.** Every version Angie builds is saved, so you can restore an earlier one if a change does not land.- **Elementor or Gutenberg.** The post says the result works whether your site runs on Elementor or Gutenberg.

### Forms And Loops Need Elementor Pro And The Atomic Editor

Angie can also build an Atomic Form (labels, inputs, text areas, checkboxes and a submit button) and an Atomic Loop with Loop, Layout and Item elements plus pagination. Elementor's post is specific about the requirement: Atomic Forms and Atomic Loop are available on Elementor Pro plans, and the Atomic Editor must be switched on under WP Admin > Elementor > Editor > Settings > Atomic Editor.

### What Is Listed As Coming Next

The same post lists three items under "What's coming next": editing generated pages by continuing the conversation, layout improvements on generated pages, and "More Pro widgets, and Angie's own widgets, inside generated pages". That last point tells you where full-page generation stands today. It draws on Elementor's own widget library, and wider Pro widget coverage is on the roadmap rather than shipped.

`Example prompts from Elementor's Build With Prompts post

Page:
"Build a landing page for the 'Project Gains' summer collection.
They are a streetwear brand with 'Human made apparel for mankind.'
Use my existing design system."

Form (requires Elementor Pro):
"Build a quote request form with name, email, project type,
and budget range."

Loop (requires Elementor Pro):
"Add a loop of our latest blog posts to this page, three per row."`

### What Angie Costs

Elementor's [Angie product page](https://elementor.com/products/angie/) lists an "Angie Free" plan at $0 with limited daily credits. Its FAQ says Angie offers a free plan with daily-renewing AI credits, and that during this time you cannot purchase additional Angie credits. The page also notes that logging in requires an Elementor account. Separately, Elementor's website builder pricing page lists AI Actions (text, code, image and container generation) at 1 to 40 One credits per action, with the exact number depending on the use case and prompt.

![Elementor help center Generate with AI section listing Angie articles](https://theplusaddons.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/i-taPX72NsabgcEjibcv005HzAqMFvC1u8JzCeS86leKYjAmM839TUssEcOg5nMDIdRibDqDFDU80QyZywShbw-scaled.png)Angie has its own section in Elementor's help center, under Generate with AI.

## What The Elementor MCP Route Does

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI client call tools exposed by a server. In WordPress, plugins register those tools through the Abilities API, and an MCP connector exposes them to your client. If you want the background first, our explainer on [what an MCP server is in WordPress](https://theplusaddons.com/blog/what-is-mcp-server-wordpress/) covers the basics.

Elementor's [help article on connecting an AI tool](https://elementor.com/help/how-to-connect-elementor-to-an-ai-tool-using-mcp/) lists the requirements: WordPress 6.8 or higher, and Elementor Core and Elementor Pro version 4.3.0 or higher. You go to Elementor > Elementor MCP, click Enable MCP access, pick Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor or Other, tick the acknowledgment, click Generate Prompt, and paste the copied prompt into your AI tool. Elementor creates an application password for the connection in the background.

According to Elementor's [guide to building with the Elementor MCP](https://elementor.com/help/how-to-build-and-edit-your-site-using-elementor-mcp/), a connected client can build page layouts from native V4 Atomic elements (Flexbox and Grid containers, Text blocks, Accordions, Background Videos and Loop Grids), manage global classes and variables, build Theme Builder templates with display conditions, bind dynamic data, and create reusable components. The client acts with the permissions of the WordPress user who connected it, and nothing more.

On cost, Elementor's [MCP launch post](https://elementor.com/blog/elementor-mcp-launch/) says connecting is free, and that usage cost depends on your AI tool's own pricing and credits. Basic sections and features can be generated free with the MCP, while Pro features require a Pro plan. The same post says everything generated is saved as a draft, and that Elementor detects when the editor and an AI tool change the same page at once. For the full setup walkthrough, read [What Is the Elementor MCP?](https://theplusaddons.com/blog/what-is-the-elementor-mcp/), and for everything else that shipped in the release, see our [Elementor 4.3 update guide](https://theplusaddons.com/blog/elementor-4-3-update/).

![Elementor blog article on making WordPress AI-ready with MCP](https://theplusaddons.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/FJcGGl_LzNeR-J2JALYIix4DTLxxhfhsQPn79WrnMc_0c2NNg5GLDmicG43XGZmZVippP1fls8iJM27ssiRV-g-scaled.png)Elementor has been writing about MCP as the base for its AI tools since 2025.

### Where Angie And The MCP Meet

The two routes are not fully separate. The MCP launch post lists some capabilities as "Requires Angie to be installed": custom widgets and admin experiences, bulk content management and debugging, and acting as a single WordPress entry point. That last one gives your AI tool access to every ability registered to the WordPress Abilities API, with WooCommerce, Yoast, WPForms, Jetpack and ACF named as examples. So Angie is also the piece that opens Elementor's MCP to other plugins' abilities.

## Build With Prompts Vs MCP: Side-By-Side Comparison

This table sums up the differences, using only what Elementor and our own docs state.

| Factor | Angie Build With Prompts | Elementor MCP With an AI Client |
| ------ | ------------------------ | ------------------------------- |
| Where you prompt | Angie, inside WordPress | Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor or another MCP client |
| Setup | Install Angie, log in with an Elementor account | Elementor Core and Pro 4.3.0+, WordPress 6.8+, enable MCP access, paste the setup prompt |
| What it builds | Full pages, design systems, forms and loops | Atomic pages and layouts, classes and variables, theme parts, components, dynamic data |
| Forms and loops | Elementor Pro plan and Atomic Editor required | Loop Grids listed among Atomic elements; Pro features need a Pro plan |
| Cost | Free plan with daily-renewing credits | Connecting is free; you pay your AI tool's pricing |
| Planning step | Plan Mode asks questions before building | Depends on the client; Elementor suggests building in stages |
| Result | Editable Elementor structure, versions saved | Editable Elementor structure, saved as a draft |
| Third-party widgets | More Pro widgets listed as "coming next" | Any plugin that registers abilities, through an MCP connector |

Neither route is strictly better. Angie is the shorter path if you already live inside Elementor and want a first draft of a page quickly, with a planning step and version history built in. The MCP route suits people who already work in Claude or Cursor, want to reuse context from other connected tools, or need the AI to place widgets beyond Elementor's own set.

## How The Plus Addons For Elementor Fits The MCP Route

The Plus Addons for Elementor registers its own WordPress abilities, so an MCP client can create pages, add containers and drop in our widgets with their settings. Our [MCP abilities overview doc](https://theplusaddons.com/docs/the-plus-addons-mcp-abilities-overview/), updated on 21 September 2026 from a live registry, gives the exact numbers:

| Edition | Abilities Registered | What Is Included |
| ------- | -------------------- | ---------------- |
| The Plus Addons (free) | 94 | 40 core Elementor abilities under tpae/ plus 54 widget abilities under tpae/tpae- |
| The Plus Addons + Pro | 151 | The same 40 core abilities, 28 widget abilities still under tpae/tpae-, and 83 Pro widget abilities under tpaep/tpaep- |
Ability counts from The Plus Addons MCP abilities overview doc, updated 21 September 2026.

Three details from that doc will save you debugging time:

- **26 ability names change when Pro is active.** For every widget that exists in both editions, the free tpae/tpae-<widget> ability is switched off and Pro registers tpaep/tpaep-<widget> instead. If your saved prompts use tpae/tpae-accordion, they need tpaep/tpaep-accordion once Pro is on.- **Nine abilities need Elementor Pro.** The template, popup, dynamic-tag, code-snippet and custom-CSS abilities are not registered at all without Elementor Pro, and your client will report them as unknown.- **We do not serve MCP ourselves.** Your WordPress must provide the Abilities API, and you need an MCP connector plugin that exposes registered abilities to your client. The Plus Addons supplies the abilities only.

The WordPress developer handbook states that the Abilities API is only available for WordPress 6.9 and above, so check your WordPress version before you start. Which widgets land in each edition is covered on our [Free vs Pro comparison](https://theplusaddons.com/free-vs-pro/).

## Example Prompts For The MCP Route

Once a client can see both Elementor's abilities and ours, you can mix native layout work with specific widgets. Name the widget you want. Clients pick tools more reliably when the prompt matches the ability description.

`Prompt 1: Page shell plus a widget
"Create a draft page called 'Pricing'. Add a full-width container
with a heading and a short intro. Below it, add The Plus Addons
Pricing Table widget with three plans: Starter, Growth and Agency.
Mark Growth as featured."

Prompt 2: Check before building
"List the abilities you can see from The Plus Addons. Tell me
whether you see tpae/ or tpaep/ widget names before you add
anything."

Prompt 3: FAQ section
"On the draft page 'Services', add a container at the bottom with
The Plus Addons Accordion widget. Add four questions about
turnaround time, revisions, hosting and support. Keep it a draft."`

Prompt 2 is worth running first on any new site. It confirms that the connector exposes our abilities and tells you whether you are on Free or Pro names, which avoids the rename problem above. For more starting points, our [widget recipes](https://theplusaddons.com/widget-recipes/) show ready-made layouts you can describe to your client.

## Using ChatGPT, Claude And Cursor As Your MCP Client

The MCP route works with any client that speaks the protocol. Here is how the common ones line up.

### Claude Code And Claude Desktop

Both have their own tab on the Elementor MCP screen, so setup is a copy and paste. Claude Code runs in your terminal and suits people who also want to script repeat work, such as building the same page layout across several client sites. Our guide to [Claude Code agents for WordPress](https://theplusaddons.com/blog/claude-code-agents-wordpress/) shows how to split that kind of work into focused subagents.

![Claude Code product page on claude.com](https://theplusaddons.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/yUll7PYmYieQ7X5C_vV6jIo_0eM6g-Tw8Z_7k-LWec5h91rCqBjgi-MXocz2H1wyVEBrSIJgoy6aGsxVmVvbzA-scaled.png)Claude Code is one of the named clients on the Elementor MCP connection screen.

### Cursor And Codex

Elementor's help article describes Codex and Cursor as native integrations for developer-focused coding assistants and AI IDEs. They are a good fit if you are already editing a child theme or custom plugin and want the page build to happen in the same window.

### ChatGPT And Other Clients

ChatGPT is not one of the named tabs on the Elementor MCP screen. Elementor's help article says the "Other" option covers any custom, self-hosted or third-party tool that follows the open Model Context Protocol standard. If your ChatGPT plan lets you add a remote MCP server, you would use that option and the manual configuration details. Check OpenAI's current documentation for your plan before relying on it, because client support for MCP changes often.

## Which Route Should You Use?

Pick based on how you already work, not on which announcement is newer.

| If You... | Start With |
| --------- | ---------- |
| Want a first draft of a page without leaving WordPress | Angie Build With Prompts |
| Need a design system set up from a reference screenshot | Angie Build With Prompts |
| Already use Claude, Cursor or Codex every day | Elementor MCP |
| Want to pull a brief from Figma, Drive or Notion into a page | Elementor MCP |
| Need widgets beyond Elementor's own set on AI-built pages | MCP with The Plus Addons abilities |
| Run many client sites and want repeatable builds | MCP with Claude Code |
A quick guide to choosing between the two routes.

You can also use both. A practical split is to let Angie draft the page and the design system, then open your MCP client to add specific widgets, fill in content from other tools, and tidy up. Because both routes produce normal Elementor structure, you can switch between them and the visual editor on the same page.

## Practical Limits And Safety Checks

Whichever route you use, a few habits keep AI page building safe on real sites.

- **Connect with a limited user.** MCP clients act with the permissions of the WordPress user who connected them. Use an account that can edit pages but not change plugins or settings.- **Keep output as drafts.** Elementor's MCP saves generated work as drafts. Say "keep it a draft" in your prompts for other plugins' abilities too, and review before publishing.- **Check versions first.** The Elementor MCP needs Core and Pro 4.3.0 or higher on WordPress 6.8+, and the Abilities API needs WordPress 6.9+. Our 4.3 guide covers update problems people reported.- **Confirm ability names.** Ask the client to list what it sees before building, especially after activating or deactivating Pro.- **Revoke unused connections.** Elementor's help article shows how to revoke a client's application password under Users > Profile, or turn off MCP access site-wide.- **Watch your credits.** Angie uses daily credits on its free plan. With MCP, your AI tool's usage limits apply, and long page builds can use a lot of them.

## Final Thoughts

Elementor now offers two real ways to build pages with AI. Angie's Build With Prompts is the in-product route, with a planning step, a free plan with daily credits, and Pro-only forms and loops. The Elementor MCP opens the same site to Claude, Cursor, Codex and other clients, with Elementor's own Atomic elements available out of the box.

If you want those AI-built pages to use more than the native widget set, the MCP route plus the abilities in The Plus Addons for Elementor is the way to get there today: 94 abilities on Free, 151 with Pro, reachable from any MCP client through a connector plugin.
